The OneDrive App
Modified on: Sun, 9 Jan 2022 5:49 PMThe Onedrive app for mobile devices is avaliable on IOS and Android, one of the many benefits of the Onedrive mobile application is the convenience of accessing files at any time or any place. the only neccessity needed for the Onedrive mobile application is a stable WI-Fi connection.
The first step is downloading the application on your mobile device. The examples included in this Article will be using an Apple iphone running IOS. navigate to the App store on your device and search for 'Onedrive'
Onedrive should be the first option when searching for Onedrive in the App store. once the Onedrive application has been found please click the 'download' button located at the top right of the application page. Selecting this option will start the download process.
Once the Onedrive app has been downloaded an icon with the name 'Onedrive' will be visible on the home page of your mobile device, please select the Onedrive application to intiate the start up process.
Once the Onedrive application has loaded you will most likley be asked to sign in with your microsoft credentails, please enter your email and password for your Office 365 account. If you are not met with a log in page when you open the application there is most likley an account already set up on the device you are using, make sure to log out of any Microsoft personal accounts to access your work documents.
After you have entered your email address credentials you will be asked to enter the password associated with that email.
Once the log in credentails have been completed you may be asked to verify your account, a text message will be sent to your mobile device which you need to enter on the Onedrive application for the verification process to be complete, if you own the Microsoft verfication app this step will most likley not occur.
Once the sign in process has completed you may be asked to allow notifications for the Onedrive application, allowing notifications will create pop ups on your mobile device everytime something changes in your Onedrive whether that be in shared libraries or with your personal files. I recommend allowing Onedrive notifications.
The first screen that you will be met with after allowing or Not allowing notifications will include some personal files as well as the shared libraries that your account will be included in, this page is for easy access to all of the files neccessary. you can also search for a specific file name using the text box located at the top of the screen.
The next section of the Onedrive applicaition is personal files, this tab is useful for browsing personal files and searching for the correct file in only one library. you can add a file in the top right hand corner using the + sign.
The camera option in Onedrive is an amazing feature that allows images taken by your mobile devices camera to be stored into a Onedrive folder of your choice, this feature is easily accessabile and can be good for documenting a vareity of evidence for work based projects or other scenarios.
The shared tab on the Onedrive applications shows all of the files that have been shared between you and other users, this option can be useful in finding a lost document that has been shared between peers, being able to searchj for specific files in this tab is also very helpful with Onedrive management.
The final tab included with the Onedrive mobile application is the libraries, this tab includes all of the libraries associated with your account, from this tab you can edit files on your shared libraries and view these files for inspection. there is also a option when opening all files from the Onedrive application to edit either through the Office 365 applications or third-party applications depending on the file type.
The final asepct of the Onedrive application is a few account options and Onedrive management options, these options can be viewed by selecting the account icon in the top left of the screen. from these options you can select different accounts, access recent files, access photos from your mobile device's library, use offline files, discover files made from the libraries that have been recently created, check the recycle bin for lost files or recover files that were accidently deleted. the settings option involves all of the microsoft account options and privacy settings and the help and feedback option include articles for common problems as well as any feedback to the Onedrive application to develop their products for the best optimisation.
