OneDrive Sync on SharePoint & Teams

The OneDrive sync to your File Explorer application is a simple process that is effective in file management, if you would like a easier way to access your files on SharePoint & Teams then this article will show you step by step. 


1. Navigate to the desired folder in the document library that you would like to synchronize, select the document or subfolder you wish to sync and click the sync button.

The picture below shows what the "Sync" button looks like on teams, however the process is the same for syncing SharePoint.

2. After the sync button has been clicked the system will begin syncing the files onto your File Explorer for when you open up the application the next time to access the files. You can check the process of the synchronization by clicking the blue cloud in the bottom right of the screen.



3. Once the synchronization process is complete the next time file explorer opens the files that have been chosen will appear under the 'SANDMAT' folder located on the left hand side of the file explorer application page. 



4. You now can make changes to SharePoint/Teams documents from your File Explorer


Change sync settings

To change the folders that sync for a site, or to stop syncing all files on a site, follow these steps:

1. Select the blue OneDrive cloud icon in the Windows taskbar notification area.

(You may need to select the Show hidden icons arrow The Show hidden icons button. next to the notification area for the OneDrive icon to appear. If the icon doesn't appear in the notification area, OneDrive might not be running. 

Select Start, enter OneDrive in the search box, and then select OneDrive in the search results.)

  • To see a list of all your syncing sites, select the Account tab.
  • To change the folders that you're syncing, select Choose folders for that library, and then select the folders that you want to sync. 
  • To stop syncing a site, select Stop sync next to the site. (Copies of the files remain on your computer. You can delete them if you want.)
