Multi Factor Authentication
Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) Background Multi Factor Authentication helps safeguard access to data and apps while maintaining simplicity for users. It provides additional security by requiring a second form of verification and delivers strong authentication through a range of easy-to-use validation methods. When does MFA apply? Inside School We trust that when you are inside school, you do not need MFA to access your account. Outside School When you are accessing your emails, SharePoint or any data from Office 365, we need to verify your sign in every 14 days. What is changing? Types of MFA There are 2 supported types of MFA Text Message Microsoft Authenticator (Recommended) We recommend Microsoft Authenticator as this is the most user friendly version of multi factor authentication and will support moving towards passwordless sign in. Text Message If you do not have a smartphone, this is perfectly acceptable.
